Summerdale Christmas Concert hits holiday high note

FOLEY - The 7th Annual Summerdale Christmas Concert kicked off the holiday season on Saturday, Nov. 23, welcoming those of all ages to partake in singing and cheer.

Prior to the concert, guests were entertained by Marley and Jack Charles, who played dulcimers in the foyer. Concert performers included Victor and Megan Andzulis, Cory and Chandra McKern, Sewell Griffith, and local special guests, including sister violinists Julie and Heather Jajeh and Police Chief Kevin Brock and his daughter Holly. From piano, violin, flute, solos, duets, and group performances, the crowd was wowed by a variety of Christmas music for the season.

The first half of the concert featured inspirational songs such as “Mary Did You Know?” “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” “What Child Is This,” “Silent Night,” and “O Come All Ye Faithful,” and many more. The second act was for traditional Christmas songs such as “Silver Bells,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “Little Drummer Boy,” “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” a duet piano performance of “Sleigh Ride Fantasy,” plus more.

Each year, the Summerdale Christmas Concert comes to the EMC building to raise funds for the Marjorie Younce Snook Summerdale Public Library. All funds raised during the night go directly to library improvements. The night also includes refreshments, intermission performances, and a raffle.

Be on the lookout for next year’s concert information, and don’t miss the Summerdale Christmas Parade happening on Saturday, Dec. 14 in the streets of downtown, beginning in Pioneer Park at 4:30 p.m. For more information, check out www.summerdaleal.com.
