In Loving Memory of Torrey Mund

Torrey Thadd Mund, 56, of Stockbridge, Georgia, passed away on Sunday,

April 30, 2017.

He was born in Seoul, Korea on March 30, 1961 and adopted by Andrew and Margaret Mund of Gulf Shores, Alabama on March 26, 1969. His childhood was spent around the water as he learned hard work ethics through the commercial fishing industry from his father.

After graduating from Central Christian School in Robertsdale, Alabama, he attended Bible college in Georgia, fulfilling his desire to be trained for Christian service.

Torrey always strived to be a Christian witness to everyone he met. His last employment was with the Clayton County Water Authority where he worked for nearly eight years as Distribution and Conveyance Equipment Operator. It was said of Torrey, once you met him, you never forgot his smile. Torrey brought years of experience and knowledge to CCWA from his many years of work with the City of Riverdale's water department.

Torrey's employers said of him, "Torrey was a dedicated employee who always managed to go above and beyond the call of duty." He was known as a kind and caring individual with a great sense of humor. "In this line of work often times a job can become a difficult challenge testing everyone's patience and stamina," says Crew Leader Scott Cantrell. "Having Torrey on the crew always helped us get through the difficult times, as he always maintained a positive attitude, encouraged his coworkers, and gave his all to complete the job at hand."

During a doctor's visit earlier this year, it was discovered that Torrey had a terminal illness. Despite receiving the terrible diagnosis of cancer, Torrey managed to keep a positive attitude and fought hard until he went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 30th. It was abundantly evident at Torrey's funeral all the friends he had made as the funeral home's porches, large halls, parlor and chapel were completely filled and others had to be turned away. The support and love felt for Torrey there was overwhelming as many shared how he had touched their lives and would be greatly missed.

Torrey was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Mund; and survived by his wife, Teresa Mund; his stepson, Joshua Sells (Maddie) of LaGrange; his stepdaughter, Lisa O'Connor (Troy) of Monroe; nine step-grandchildren; his mother, Margaret Mund; his sisters, Janna Mund Lanier (Matthew Demers), Malinda Arnould (Stephen); his brothers, Dr. Wayne Mund (Lenora) and Mark Mund (Beth), all of Gulf Shores, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
