“Adopt a student” to support local education

FOLEY - The South Baldwin Literacy Council is asking for community members to “adopt a student” in a new fundraising program! For $26 a month, students will receive one-on-one tutoring, books, and materials, at no cost to them.

“The adopt a student program is a vital part of the South Baldwin Literacy Council’s success,” said Director Mitchell Lee. “As we provide all of our services free of charge, we depend on community support to continue our tutoring programs. By adopting a student, you are playing a key role in a community member’s education.”

Tutoring is available in math and/or reading. Youth tutoring is far from the only service offered at the South Baldwin Literacy Council. There are also tutoring classes for adults and English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring. GED tutoring is also available.

It costs $312 to adopt a student for an entire year, $130 to cover either the entire fall or spring semester, or $52 for the summer reading program. More than just one-on-one tutoring, students also receive encouragement, confidence building, and children’s books to read with their families.

“If you can support local children and adults studying for a better tomorrow, please consider signing up to adopt a student today,” Lee said. “The South Baldwin Literacy Council appreciates contributions of any size as 100 percent of donations stay right here in Baldwin County and are used to provide free tutoring programs for the community.”

If you’re interested in adopting a student, you can either visit www.southbaldwinliteracycouncil.com/donate or mail a check to South Baldwin Literacy Council, 21441 Highway 98 E, Foley, Al 36535.
