CRESTVIEW, Fla. — Three Baldwin County men and one Florida man have now been arrested in connection with a 2005 shooting death near Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

According to a release from the Okaloosa County (Florida) Sheriff’s Department, 44-year-old Victor Stanton of Fairhope was arrested and booked Sept. 28 in the Dallas jail in Dallas, Texas, on an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office warrant in the 2005 shooting death of Luis Gonzalez at his apartment near Fort Walton Beach.

Investigators say the shooting was part of a drug-related home invasion robbery attempt Sept. 12, 2005 and they believe Stanton was the one who shot Gonzalez.

Jail records show that Stanton was booked over the weekend and is being held without bond at the Okaloosa County Corrections Facility.

Two other Baldwin County men and a Florida man have also been arrested in connection with the case, according to the release.

Bennie Richardson, 42, of Loxley, turned himself in Sept. 4 at the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview, Florida. According to Okaloosa County Jail records, Richardson was released Sept. 7 on a $100,000 bond.

Jail records show Adrian Watson, 44, of Fort Walton Beach was booked Aug. 31 and was released Sept. 1 on a $50,000 bond. Marcus Snowden, 41, of Daphne was booked Sept. 8 and is being held without bond.

All four men were booked in relation to a “homicide: murder not premeditated during specific felony” and are awaiting hearings, according to Okaloosa County Department of Corrections records.

OCSO Investigators say the development of new witness testimony and information in the cold case led to the break needed, culminating now in four arrests nearly 16 years after the death of Gonzalez.
