ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce held its 17th Annual Prayer Breakfast Thursday, May 6 at the Baldwin County Coliseum in Robertsdale.

Following a welcome by CBCC Prayer Breakfast Committee Chair Dennis Stastka, an opening prayer was provided by Donna Givens and Presentation of Colors by the Robertsdale High School Naval Junior ROTC. Breakfast was served cafeteria style, catered by L.A. Barbeque.

Stastka then presented the Pledge of Allegiance and pledge to the Christian Flag with the National Anthem presented by Bill Wade, music minister, Rosinton United Methodist Church. A special song, “Masterpiece of Mercy” was presented by Stastka before introducing the guest speaker, Kerry Stevenson, vice president of Miles College in Birmingham.

Stevenson, who was head football coach at Vigor High School before serving as Director of Player Development at the University of Alabama and the University of Tennessee, spoke based on the theme “Grace,” from 2 Corinthians 12:19, “My grace is sufficient for you.”

“Grace is defined as the love and mercy that God gives us that we don’t deserve but we have it because God wants us to have it,” Stevenson said. “Grace is something that is always in demand, but God always has more grace to supply that we have to demand.”

Stevenson said his grace has always been defined by angels, some who have since “gone on to glory” and some who are still present in his life.

“If it were not for those ‘angels’ I would not be here,” he said, “and I would not be where I am today.”

Stevenson also recited excerpts from his book of poetry, “Inspirations in Life: Inspired by Faith, Family, Friends & Football.”

Closing prayer was presented by Curt Williams, executive director of Youth-Reach Houston and Youth-Reach Gulf Coast, located in Summerdale.
