A little sweet and spooky competition was brewing in the gymnasium of Gulf Shores High School Oct. 31.

A school-wide cupcake competition was held in the gymnasium for any student that wished to compete. Over a dozen teams participated and were judged on taste, decoration of cupcake and the table décor.

Four judges from the community and school staff were on hand to taste each creation. Some teens made box mix and store-bought frosting while others made everything from scratch. One team even made spun sugar cages to top their cupcakes.

Each team commented about how much fun they had coming up with their ideas. The competition was tough, but three teams were chosen as winners.
