2021 Bayshore Senior, Lydia Walsh was selected as the 2021 Bryant-Jordan 1A Region
Scholar Athlete.
Bayshore Academic Counselor Meghan Wilkinson said, “Her diligence and dedication
are evident in all aspects of her life. She is brilliant in the classroom, determined on the field, a
true leader on campus, and a selfless servant of her community.”
Since 1986, the Bryant-Jordan Student-Athlete Scholarship Program has celebrated
outstanding high school seniors who demonstrate hard work, determination and commitment that
has led to success in sport and academics. Established by the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in
partnership with the AHSAA, the program was built on the unconditional belief that education
and athletics could work together to motivate young people to excel.
The program recognizes and honors Alabama students who have by ability and effort
achieved a level of excellence in the areas of academics and athletics that is commensurate with
their potential.
Athletic Director Jeff Hauge added, "I am so proud of Lydia Walsh and the young lady
that she has become she represents Bayshore Christian school and an amazing way with her faith
in Christ and leadership that she displays around this campus that the trials that she has faced has
molded her and has helped mold her into the person that she has become."
Ninety-six scholarships are awarded annually to deserving high school seniors from
schools that are members of the Alabama High School Athletic Association. The program has
grown from an $8,000 award program to the present over $800,000.
