Bayside Academy’s Daves named Mobile Optimist Club 1A-3A Track and Field Athlete of the Year

DAPHNE, Ala.  - Bayside Academy junior Patrick Daves has been recognized by the Mobile Optimist Club as their 1A-3A Track and Field Athlete of the Year. During the 2021 outdoor track and field season, one of his greatest achievements was posting the fastest time in the 110-meter hurdles for the entire state regardless of Alabama High School Athletic Association classification. Under Bayside head coach Joe Swagart, Daves also achieved four individual 3A State Championships, the only athlete in AHSAA competition to score 40 points.

At the Class 3A AHSAA State Championships he won the 110-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, triple jump and high jump. He holds the outdoor school record in all four of these events as well as four indoor track and field school records. Recently, he was recognized by his peers as the "Hardest Worker" and "MVP" and was also recognized by his coaches for the Admirals "Coach's Award," an award given to an athlete who demonstrates the attitude and spirit that epitomizes the nature of track and field.
