BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Bay Minette Police Department has partnered with Digital Siren by PursuitAlert technologies to bring a 21st century warning system that allows law enforcement to send real-time critical messaging to residents’ mobile phones when near an emergency response or other dangerous situation.

According to a release issued by BMPD Chief Al Tolbert, Digital Siren for Law Enforcement offers a state-of-the-art, patent pending mobile warning that was designed to alert motorists and civilians of an immediate danger when there's a critical event such as a high-speed chase, emergency response or active shooter happening nearby. Officers can also help protect themselves and help the public comply with the move over law by alerting oncoming motorist when the officer is stopped on the roadside.

“We encourage citizens to download the Digital Siren free app on your smart phone,” Tolbert said. “The service is free to anyone who has a smart phone. This alert system can potentially save lives and enhance public safety.”

The PursuitAlert mobile app is free to download and use on iOS and Android mobile devices.

Once you’ve downloaded the mobile app, you will receive push notifications whenever you enter the range of a pursuit, emergency response, an emergency vehicle stopped ahead or a critical incident from participating law enforcement agencies.

PursuitAlert’s service is available to all state, county and municipal law enforcement agencies in the United States.
