BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The Florida man charged in the shooting deaths of two Seattle men Oct. 8 near Elberta is being held without bond in Baldwin County Corrections Center following a hearing on Thursday.

Antwon Montrex Smith, 37, of Pensacola, Florida, was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Center at around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. A bond hearing for Smith was set for 1 p.m. and he was reportedly denied bond after Judge J. Clark Stankoski determined he would be a flight risk and a danger to the public.

Smith is being held on capital murder charges in connection with the deaths of Ryan Fraizer and Joshua Carroll, both of Seattle, Washington.

The two men, who were cable installers, were in the area after being forced to evacuate from the Louisiana because of the threat of Hurricane Delta. Investigators believe the two men were shot in a drug deal gone bad in the late-night, early morning hours of Oct. 8 or 9 off of County Road 95 near Elberta.

According to reports, both victims were shot four times in the back, including in the back of the head.

On Saturday, Oct. 10, Smith was driving Fraizer’s vehicle when was arrested following a brief chase with Mobile police officers. He was booked into the Mobile Metro Jail and charged with attempting to elude police, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a controlled substance (heroin), possession of marijuana, second degree, and receiving stolen property, first degree.

Police also recovered several items reportedly stolen from the victims, including Fraizer’s wallet. Investigators also believe the weapon found in the vehicle might have been the same one used in the Elberta shooting.

Smith is also wanted for questioning by the Crestview (Florida) Police Department in connection with the disappearance of Calandra Marie Stallworth, who was last seen in the Sandestin area on March 27, 2017.

Investigators with the Crestview Police Department say they believe Smith was the last person to see Stallworth before she disappeared.

Soon after Stallworth was reported missing, Smith was arrested by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department on drug charges and was in possession of Stallworth’s car at the time of his arrest.
