Foley Beautification and Revitalization Committee presents beautification awards

FOLEY - Every year, the Foley Beautification and Revitalization Committee presents awards to three businesses. The award winners are chosen by committee members after careful consideration and review of efforts made by businesses to touch up, renovate, and/or add landscaping to their businesses.

“The committee works very hard to choose these awards,” said Mayor Ralph Hellmich. The winners receive a sign to be put up at their business identifying it as a Beautification Award winner, as well as a certificate that can displayed inside the business.

The first 2021 winner was Local and Company Food+Drink, located at 812 North McKenzie Street.

“We appreciate the beautiful building you have up there, and I know it’s been a very successful business,” Hellmich told restaurant owners Sylvia Smith and Ephraim Kadish, who accepted the award. “We’re very proud of you guys coming to Foley.”

The second award went to Gulf Coast Occupational Sports and Pain Medicine LLC, located at 1615 North Alston Street.

“Once again, this is another example of an old building that was not really that good looking at the time, and this team took it and worked really hard to landscape it, and it looks great, it’s a great asset now,” Hellmich said.

The final winner in 2021 was St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Parish, located at 601 West Laurel Avenue.

“[Rev. Paul G. Zoghby] is very meticulous about what he allows the church grounds to look like,” Hellmich said. “He wants it to be something that really honors Foley, he loves being in Foley. He also wants it to honor God.”
