Friends of the Foley Library cancel Annual Book Sale

Posted

FOLEY - The Friends of the Foley Public Library have made the decision to cancel the Annual Book Sale. The Book Sale is usually held in February inside the Foley Civic Center, and draws large crowds over the two-day public event, with a third day being held for Friends of the Foley Library members only.

“The Friends of the Foley Library will cancel the Annual Book Sale scheduled in February 2021,” said Friends of the Foley Library President Rusty Anglin. “We believe we need to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines and avoid large gatherings.”

The Friends’ Bookstore, inside the Foley Public Library, remains open and offers thousands of hardcovers and paperbacks. While some are used, many are like new, and all have been inspected and are cleared for sale. The store also offers CDs, DVDs, and a number of jigsaw puzzles.

Anglin says that “despite the pandemic, membership renewals are strong.” Single membership is $10 and family membership is $15.

The Book Sale is the Friends’ largest fundraiser of the year, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to help fund the Foley Public Library. Donations can be made at the library. Volunteers and book donations are also needed. For more information, contact Rusty Anglin at 251-943-3443 or ctl10002829@centurylink.net.
