Getting the job done

SUMMERDALE, Alabama -- Robertsdale Rotary Club is finally nearing completion on a project to install a fence at the Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center in Summerdale.

The community project, which was started under 2017-18 President Joshua Mims, experienced several delays, including having to get a variance from the town of Summerdale to install the fence, but volunteers with the Rotary Club staged several work days recently and 2020-21 President David Kitchens reported during the club’s June 8 meeting that the project was 95 percent completed with just some clean-up work left to finish.

Founded in 1948, the Robertsdale Rotary Club is a member of Rotary International which boasts more than 1.2 million members in more than 35,000 clubs worldwide and operates by the credo of “Service above self,” and under the motto of the 4-way test, “Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? And Will it be beneficial to all concerned?”

Traditionally the club meets at noon every Tuesday at Mama Lou’s Restaurant on Pine Street in Robertsdale. The club recently resumed meetings in person, while also conducting meetings via Zoom, every other Tuesday.

Through the Robertsdale Rotary Foundation, the club has donated money for local scholarships, schools and charity organizations. For more information visit rotary.org or the Robertsdale Rotary Club page on Facebook.
