James Edward “Jimmy” Murphree

James Edward “Jimmy” Murphree, born April 6, 1941, in Bessemer, Ala., and was a resident of Daphne, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, at the age of 80.

Jim was the 1959 Senior Class President at Hueytown High School. He worked over 55 years in the Steel and Pipe Sales industries. He enjoyed music, woodworking, nature, and never would pass up an opportunity with friends and family. As a believer who followed Christ, Jimmy touched the lives of all those who knew him.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin James Murphree and Maggie Blackwell Murphree, and brother, Larry Eugene Murphree.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Ann McElvey Murphree; children, Brian (Kimberly) Murphree of Tampa, Fla., and Deron (Rochelle) Murphree of Belleville, Mich.; ten grandchildren. Kaylie Grace Murphree, Andrew Wyatt Murphree, Clay Brian Murphree, William Titus Murphree, Seth James Murphree Summer Rae Johnson, Brenna Paiton Johnson, Hailey Rochelle Johnson, Ava Madison Murphree, and Eleanor Paige Brotzman Murphree; sisters, Donna Moses, and Karen Parsons (Billy); along with other family members and friends.

Funeral service was held at First Fairhope on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at 1 p.m. The family received friends for a time of visitation beginning at 12 p.m. Interment was Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Spring Hill United Methodist Cemetery, 1904 Peebles Road, Whigham, Ga.
