Orange Beach Fire Rescue relaunches File of Life program

Posted

Now that COVID-19 restrictions have eased up, the Orange Beach Fire Department is reintroducing the File of Life Program.

Life is precious and in a medical emergency, every second counts. Picture this: Your loved one is having a medical emergency. When the first responders arrive, the person is incoherent or even worse, unconscious. During a life-threatening emergency, seconds become critical.

Treatment is sometimes delayed because the medical personnel don’t have access to critical medical information. That is why the Orange Beach Fire Department is launching the File of Life Project for senior citizens and citizens with chronic medical problems living in the City of Orange Beach.

The File of Life contains pertinent information about an individual’s health history such as contact information, medical history and prescriptions. This information will be placed on the Orange Beach resident’s refrigerator. When there is an emergency the medics will get this important information and treat the individual quickly.

The File of Life is:

  • Free
  • Effective
  • Efficient
  • Endorsed by hospitals, EMS, Police, and Fire Departments across the country

It has been:

  • Implemented in more than 1600 communities across the country at last count
  • Placed in over 2,500,000 homes across the country
  • And, it already implemented in 49 states and is constantly growing

File of Life packets are available in City of Orange Beach Fire Department Administration building. Please call OBFD at 251-981-6166 or 251-981-1179 for arrangements.
