FOLEY - Ralph Hellmich won the Foley mayoral election against opponent Aaron Bika. Hellmich’s campaign held a watch party on Aug. 25 at the Groovy Goat at OWA, where he gave a toast after results were announced.

“I personally don’t think Foley’s doing that bad, so I think we want to keep it going,” Hellmich said.

Hellmich has served on the Foley city council for 16 years and says he is looking forward to his next four years as mayor.

“I’m going to tell you we have challenges here in Foley,” he said. “I get calls every day, Mike [Thompson, city administrator] gets them, Wayne [Trawick, council president] gets them. We’re going to work really hard on those challenges. I think we’ve got some great plans, and we’re going to keep working toward them … This toast should be to the citizens of Foley, to all the workers and all the supporters. Let’s keep it going, let’s make this town even better than it is now.”

Trawick was elected to continue to serve in his position as District 1 representative. Richard Dayton was elected to serve as District 3 representative. The next term begins on Nov. 2.
