Corporal Steven Smith with the Foley Police Department was honored during a retirement ceremony at the August council. Corporal Smith has worked in law enforcement for 25 years. Upon retiring from the FPD, employees receive their service weapons, which the department has engraved with their name and years of service. Retiring employees are also asked to gather memorabilia from their time in service, including items from their various positions within the department and accomplishments. These items are used in a shadowbox that the department has professionally created before being given to the retiring employee to display in their home.
