Second suspect arrested in Magnolia Springs kidnapping/robbery

MAGNOLIA SPRINGS, Alabama — The second suspect has been arrested in a kidnapping and robbery that occurred the day after Christmas at a Magnolia Springs RV and mobile home park.

According to online records, 23-year-old Kirkland River Cohen of Loxley was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility Jan. 16, charged with first degree robbery, first degree kidnapping and first-degree assault and had yet to receive bond as of Sunday, Jan. 17.

According to information provided by BCSO investigations command, Cohen was wanted in connection with an assault and kidnapping that occurred Dec. 26 as the alleged victim dropped an acquaintance off at Valley RV and Mobile Home Park, located off of Magnolia Springs Highway in Magnolia Springs.

Another man, 29-year-old Taylor Nelson, was arrested Jan. 10, on kidnapping, robbery and assault charges, along with possession of a controlled substance and attempt to elude. Nelson is being held on a $158,000 bond.

According to reports, Cohen was arrested without incident at a residence off County Road 97 in Josephine after the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that he was staying at the residence.

According to a BCSO release, after being forced to empty his pockets, which included keys, personal effects and several hundred dollars, the unidentified victim was taken to a trailer, where he was reportedly tied to a chair, assaulted and threatened with a firearm. He was held for at least a day before being dropped off at a different location.

He was taken to a local medical facility where he underwent surgery stemming from injuries sustained during the incident. No further information is available on his condition.
