The seniors at DayBreak Senior Care were thrilled to be visited and entertained by the local band Swayback. The band performed for over an hour singing songs from a variety of genres, and often the seniors sang along. Everyone had a great time! Shown here after the performance, standing from the left, are Bob Carlston, Tommy Salter, Susie Hewitt, Jan McVey, Errol Hewitt, Marianne Hawkins and Kathleen Donaldson. Seated, from the left, are Velma Tuttle, Jean Coker, Dolly Glorvegan and Kay Ritch.

DayBreak Senior Daycare provides a secure, loving environment where individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia are encouraged to participate in playing games, craft projects, singing, exercising and social interaction. The senior daycare provides participants’ fulltime caregiver with short term relief from the unrelenting demands of caregiving by providing time out to grocery shop, attend support groups, or visit friends and family.

All DayBreak Senior Daycare participants must be pre-registered. The program is not designed to provide medical or counseling services but to provide support for the caregivers and their loved ones. It is offered every Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located in Building B on the South Campus of Gulf Shores United Methodist Church. Cost is $20 per visit and includes a hot lunch. For information on DayBreak Senior Daycare please contact Marianne Hawkins at 251-752-1849 (jhhmsh@gulftel.com) or Amelia Fletcher at 251-968-2411 (amelia@gulfshoresumc.org).
