BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A Texas man is facing attempted murder, among other charges in connection with the stabbing of a Loxley man on New Year’s Day at the Bay Minette Walmart.

Bradley James Berry Carpenter, 26, of Conroe, Texas, was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility at 4:48 p.m. Friday and is in jail on a $105,000 bond charged with attempted murder (felony aggravated assault), along with misdemeanor theft of property, fourth degree, and four misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment.

At approximately 1:40 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 1 the Bay Minette Police Department issued a release saying they were on the scene of a stabbing at the local Walmart on McMeans Avenue.

“Two individuals who are known to each other got into a physical altercation inside the store,” according to the release issued by Police Chief Al Tolbert. “One individual stabbed the other in the neck.”

According to a later release issued Friday evening, Carpenter was apprehended outside of the store after officers arrived on scene. The weapon used in the stabbing was also recovered.

“This is an isolated incident and does not appear to be a random attack,” according to the release. “The two individuals involved engaged in a verbal argument inside the store that lead up to the stabbing.”

The victim, identified as Timothy Scott Jackson of Loxley, was transported to USA Medical Center in Mobile. According to the Friday evening release, he was listed in stable condition at that time.
