Where will you celebrate Fourth of July?

Posted

After the cancellations of 2020 it is time to celebrate Fourth of July on the island. From fireworks to 5Ks, there is something for everyone.

Gulf Shores

The City of Gulf Shores will celebrate the Fourth of July with a fireworks display, beginning at 9 p.m. July 4. Fireworks will be shot from the Gulf State Park Fishing and Education Pier.

Due to ongoing construction to repair damage from Hurricane Sally, fireworks will be shot from the center of the pier this year, making the Gulf State Park and the eastern area of the Gulf Shores Public Beach ideal locations for spectators.

The timeline of public access to the Gulf State Park Pier Sunday, July 4, is as follows:

  • 7 a.m. – The Gulf State Park Pier will close to the public for firework setup.
  • Noon – The pier will reopen to the public 100 feet north of the firework launch site.
  • 8:30 p.m. – The fire marshal will close the pier and on-site restaurant.
  • 9 p.m. – The fireworks show begins.
  • 6 a.m., Monday, July 5 – Pier reopens to the public.

For information related to the schedule of operations for the Gulf State Park Fishing and Education Pier, please call (251) 967-3474. For more information about the City of Gulf Shores’ Fourth of July fireworks, contact the Special Events Division at (251) 968-1171 or visit www.gulfshoresal.gov.

As a reminder, discharging fireworks within the corporate limits of the City of Gulf Shores is prohibited without a permit. Please contact the Gulf Shores Fire Marshal at (251) 968-4292 for more information on fireworks permits.

The Lodge at Gulf State Park

The Lodge at Gulf State Park will have live music, pie-eating contest and a traditional southern cookout for their July Fourth Celebration and Cookout. The event also gives you the best viewing spot for the Gulf Shores firework display. The cookout begins at 5:30 p.m. and tickets are $65 for adults and $30 for children and can be purchased on Eventbrite.com.

Flora-Bama

The Flora-Bama Fourth of July All-American BBQ Party is a whole day event. The day starts with the Freedom run at 8 a.m. The 4-mile run and 1-mile fun run will get your blood pumping early. The All-American BBQ Party begins at 11 a.m. and will feature live music and fun and end with a fireworks display.

The Wharf

The Eighth Annual Shark Run 5K benefiting Furrever Homes Animal Rescue will take place at The Wharf. The 5K run and 5K competitive walk begins at 7 a.m. on a certified course. Finishers for each event will receive a medal and both events will have age group winners. There will be an award party with free refreshments and cold beverages for all participants at Sandshakers. On July 3-4, the CSpire Concert Series presents Luke Combs with special guests Flatland Calvary and Channing Wilson. Tickets for the show are available on Ticketmaster.com.
