William B. Murphy, Jr, age 84, of Elberta, Alabama passed away at home on October 17, 2020 with his beloved wife of 56 years, Catherine by his side. Bill, as he was called by everyone, was born on February 22, 1936 in Troy, Illinois at his parent’s home. He graduated McCray-Dewey High School in Troy, Illinois where he lettered in basketball and track. He joined the United States Army August 28, 1958 and was honorably discharged on January 31, 1963. Bill owned and operated a heating and air conditioning business in Troy, Illinois. In 1978 he picked up his family and moved to Robertsdale, Alabama where he continued his career in HVAC. He became a member of First Assembly of God in Robertsdale, Al and later at Foley First Assembly of God and Bibleway Assembly of God in Foley, Al. He left a wonderful legacy of hard work and dedication to the Lord to his family. Bill loved the Lord with all of his heart. He would tell his family “Pray and then praise Him.” Bill is preceded in death by his father, William B. Murphy, Sr., his mother Ellen Porter Murphy and his only sister Delores Murphy Brown. Survivors include his much loved wife Catherine Irene Murphy and his children Patty Murphy of Illinois, Billy (Michelle) Murphy of Foley, Al, Dana King of Summerdale, Al, Tommy (Kristen) Murphy of Robertsdale, Al, Dawn (Harlan) Cooper of Elberta, Al, Timmy Murphy of Elberta, Al and his adopted grandson, Stephen Murphy of Elberta, Al. Bill enjoyed his time with his other 10 grandchildren and his 2 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00 with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 at Bibleway Assembly of God, 15787 US 98, Foley, Al 36535. 251-943-5777.
