Crowds brave rain for Family Farm Day in Silverhill

SILVERHILL, Alabama — Crowds braved the rain on Saturday, Nov. 23 for the 9th Annual Family Farm Day at Humming Star Alpacas in Silverhill.

Owners Cheryl and Andy Bowen welcomed guests who were treated to alpacas of all shapes and sizes. Even a cat, dog and a giant tortoise made appearances during the event.

The event included a Christmas market with alpaca roving, yarn, socks, sweaters, teddy bears, scarves and many other items. Other vendors included handmade soaps, pottery, homemade garlic pickles, jellies and salsa, handmade home décor, handmade jewelry, gourmet treats, organically honey, organically grown herbs and more.

Lunch was provided by Chef Will Hughes catering of Fairhope. Entertainment included Cammie Barksdale and the We All Paca Ukes.

Everyone is invited to come do their holiday shopping on the farm, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 and Friday through Monday, Dec. 20-23.
