Hindsight is 2020, don’t quit the fight

One year.

One year of isolation. Fear. Anger. Sickness. Death.

One year of giving a helping hand. Of learning what matters most. One year of communities working together here and around the globe.

The coronavirus pandemic delivered a 2020 full of highs and lows, struggles and wins. And friends, it is not over.

Viruses do not adhere to a calendar schedule. They do not obey the arbitrary laws written by man. Viruses spread, they multiply, they sicken and kill. And Covid-19 is not done with us.

The same scientists who warned us that the death toll could mount to thousands, and it did, are warning us to stick to the plan. To keep our masks on, to stay six feet apart. Mutations of the virus are rampant, and some are potentially more dangerous.

If these mutations are given the opportunity to spread throughout early rejoicing and flinging off of our masks, then 2021 and probably 2022 will be witnessed behind more masks and more restrictions.

We have a vaccine in hand. We have the solution that so many generations before us never saw – a tool to stop a rampant virus from spreading. But everyone needs to take it. Everyone needs to remain vigilant until they have it.

Otherwise, if we allow the virus to spread, and mutations to form, that vaccine becomes powerless and we have to start over. Hindsight is truly 2020. Many of us chose not to follow our scientists’ guidelines last year and thousands paid the price.

We can see clearly now that the correct choice is to stay the course, follow our scientists’ guidelines until we all have the vaccine and can remove the restrictions and the masks together, for good.
