BAY MINETTE — A Theodore man was arrested on numerous charges after running from Bay Minette Police following a routine traffic stop Wednesday, July 14.

According to a release issued Thursday by Bay Minette Police Chief Al Tolbert, officers stopped a blue Chevrolet truck pulling a utility trailer for a traffic violation on Alabama 59 near Alabama 287 at approximately 11:30 p.m. July 14.

During the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Casey Aaron Dixson of Theodore drove away from officers. Officers engaged in a slow-speed vehicle pursuit traveling northbound on 59.

During the pursuit officers reported that several items were discarded from within the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Officers were able to end the pursuit north of Interstate 65 by forcing Dixson to drive into the ditch, disabling the vehicle.

Dixson refused to exit the vehicle and a Tazer was ultimately deployed by officers. Dixson was arrested for numerous charges, including one felony charge, certain persons forbidden to possess pistol; and several misdemeanor charges, including four counts, unlawful use of fax, Department of Public Safety ID card; resisting arrest; attempt to elude; possession of drug paraphernalia; illegal possession of prescription drugs; driving while suspended; operating a vehicle without insurance; tampering with physical evidence; improper lane change/usage; reckless driving; and a traffic charge. He was taken to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Correction Center.

Several fake identifications were discovered along the roadside. A 45-caliber handgun, drug paraphernalia items and narcotics were found inside the vehicle.

Dixson has a long criminal history and is a convicted felon, according to the release. Dixson is being held without bond as a detainer for hold for Mobile County for outstanding warrants.
