Children’s Christmas Cheer program registration opens Oct. 5

The Christian Service Center has been sponsoring the Children’s Christmas Cheer program for over 20 years. The program aids local parents needing a little help to provide a Christmas for their children. Each year the program is sponsored by area churches, clubs, businesses and generous community members.

The center provides Christmas gifts for children ranging from birth through high school in Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and Fort Morgan. Proof of residency is required through a current utility bill or lease agreement.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the center will only take telephone requests from people in the parking lot on intake days. It is necessary to be there during intake because there are papers you will need to pick up. The documents will be required when picking up the Christmas food box, which is also being offered or picking up Christmas gifts.

Intake begins Oct. 5 and will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. throughout October. In November, intake will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. There will be no intake after Nov. 23. The earlier you request gifts, the more likely your child is to receive the gift requested.

If someone you know plans on coming to the Christian Service Center and needs an interpreter, please accompany them to make the process go a little smoother. The Christian Service Center is located at 317 Dolphin Avenue, Gulf Shores.
