The 49th Annual National Shrimp Festival may be canceled this year due to COVID – 19 but the Fourth Annual Miss Shrimp Festival Pageant will still be crowning festival royalty Sept. 26.

This year’s competition has been split into three sessions to provide plenty of space for social distancing inside the Erie Meyer Civic Center. The first session will begin at 10 a.m. for pre - K through second grade, third through sixth grade begins at 2 p.m. and seventh through 12th  grade begins at 6 p.m.

The competition consists of an introduction and walk of the stage where judges score the ladies on their appearance, poise and personality. The young ladies can also choose to add additional judging for prettiest smile, prettiest eyes, best dress and hair.

Miss Shrimp Festival Pageant is presented by Coastal Alabama Business Chamber and the National Annual Shrimp Festival. All proceeds are donated to Orange Beach Elementary and Gulf Shores Elementary school.

Applications can be found on the Miss Shrimp Festival Pageant Facebook page or email littlemissshrimpfestival@gmail.com for more information. Registration ends Sept. 7.
