One Gulf Shores resident is nearly $1 million richer after winning the top prize from The Fastest Road to $1,000,000 Scratch-Off game.

Thomas Cook purchased the million-dollar winning ticket from the Flora-Bama Liquor Store located at 17395 Perdido Key Drive in Pensacola. According to a Florida Lottery press release, the store will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

Cook chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $790,000.

The Fastest Road to $1,000,000 launched in February 2020 and features 155 top prizes of $1 million and over $948 million in cash prizes. The $30 game’s overall odds of winning are one in 2.79.

According to the Florida Lottery website, scratch-off games comprise approximately 75% of ticket sales and generated more than $1 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fun in fiscal year 2019-2020.
