The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber and Beachball Properties recently began presenting the Island Spirit Awards to the late summer 2020 winners. The presentations were put on hold earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The August 2020 Island Spirt Award winner is Hal Ulmer, bartender for Luna’s Eat and Drink. Ulmer’s nominator describes him as a bartender who “shows so much attention to both visitors and locals and is a great ambassador to our island.”

The September 2020 Island Spirit Award winner is Justin Dobbs of Gulf Shores Fire Rescue. Dobbs’ nomination letter states that he “goes where he is needed with an open heart, ready to serve. He not only works for our city but is involved in our schools as well. He was part of the collection and distribution of supplies in another state during Hurricane Laura and was ready to help his own community during Hurricane Sally.”
