CBEF seeks to boost educational opportunities for students

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Central Baldwin Education Foundation is looking for a few good people who are looking to boost the educational opportunities for students in Central Baldwin County.

Central Baldwin Education Foundation was created to encourage academic excellence in the Central Baldwin feeder pattern. The goal of CBEF is to supplement funding for educational programs and activities where funding may not be available.

CBEF raises money for the Teacher of the Year banquet and Teacher that Inspired Me. The organization also provides scholarship opportunities for seniors and grant opportunities for teachers and staff members.

The only way this is possible is through fundraising and membership dues. It is the goal of CBEF to host multiple fundraisers throughout the year with Honeybee Festival being its largest. Honeybee Festival is scheduled for Nov. 6 at Honeybee Park in Robertsdale.

Membership dues are another way to raise money for CBEF. Teachers and staff members of Central Baldwin schools can join CBEF for $10 and community members can join for $25. These funds are essential in funding these needed grants and scholarships.

CBEF will host its first event of the 2021-22 school year, the annual Teacher Who Inspired Me” night when the Golden Bears taken on the McGill-Toolen Yellow Jackets Thursday, Oct. 7. RHS seniors will escort a teacher onto the field while an essay of why that teacher inspired them is read before the audience.

The Central Baldwin Education Foundation was formed in 2008 with the help of the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, as a way to support Robertsdale High School and its feeder schools, including the South Baldwin Center for Technology, Central Baldwin Middle School and the area’s six elementary schools, Robertsdale, Loxley, Silverhill, Summerdale, Elsanor and Rosinton schools.

In 2009, the CBEF began giving out grants to qualifying teachers at the various schools. Grants have also been given to fund tutoring programs for local schools and the organization has also given scholarships to local students.
