Family-friendly events planned for Halloween

ROBERTSDALE — Residents in central and north Baldwin County will have several options for family-friendly Halloween events this year, beginning with the annual Halloween Fun Night Thursday, Oct. 21 at the Robertsdale Library.

Halloween Fun Night

After having to cancel last year’s event because of concerns over COVID-19, Robertsdale Public Library Director Cynthia Nall said she is looking forward to once again providing a safe environment for residents to come and enjoy some Halloween fun.

“I’m excited,” she said. “I know everybody is looking for things to get back to normal, or as normal as they can possibly be. I started this event so that children in our area could have a safe environment where they can come and have fun and we want to do everything we can to keep everyone safe.”

Once again Sheriff Huey “Hoss” Mack will serve as MC for the event, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 at the library on Pennsylvania Street.

Members of the community will be invited to participate in a trunk or treat with vehicles lining the sidewalk around the library. The City of Robertsdale and the Library have purchased pre-packaged candy that will be given to the participants to hand out. Trick-or-Treat bags featuring pre-packaged items will also be handed out along with pre-packaged chips and bottled water.

The Cookie Monster (Nall) will be handing out pre-packaged cookies and the Tooth Fairy will also be there handing out toothbrushes.

Volunteers with the Robertsdale Fire Department will offer hayrides. Entertainment will include a unicyclist/juggler, a D.J., and a local dance group will perform two or three dances by the sidewalk in front of the library. There will also be a variety of games, manned by cadets with the Robertsdale High School Naval JROTC.

Attendees are invited to come in costume and the event is open to boys and girls ages 12 and under, accompanied by an adult.
