Gertrude Elizabeth “Trudy” Houston, 77, a resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021. Trudy was a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and grew up in New Orleans.
Trudy began her journey towards becoming a Registered Nurse at the University of Southeastern Louisiana. She achieved her degree in nursing at the University of Mobile where she graduated Cum Laude. She used that degree to assist those enduring chemotherapy at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, Trudy found her niche in the NICU at USA Children’s and Women’s where she served until she retired. Trudy was well-known for her integrity, loyalty, and dependability. She was able to maintain her composure in most high-pressure situations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Kenneth Houston, and Julia Lucille Bilbo Houston.
Trudy is survived by her son, Robert Tallman; daughter, Charlotte Houston Tallman Lyssy (Wayne); grandchildren, Kathryn Hope Lyssy and Daniel Blake Lyssy; sister, Mary Lou Houston; many other loving relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
