Harvest time!

Posted

It was harvest time at the community garden located on the Douglasville School of Arts & Recreation in Bay Minette. Light of the City volunteers purchased the seeds and plants and community volunteers helped to plow and prep the garden beds. LOTC summer campers, as well as local volunteers, helped with the harvest which included tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, peppers, okra, radish, some herbs and watermelons.

The raised garden beds were built and installed in 2019 by Baldwin County High School FFA members. The initial community garden project was funded through a grant from Impact 100 Baldwin County, with support from the City of Bay Minette and North Baldwin Utilities.

Plans are already in motion for a fall planting in late August.
