BAY MINETTE, Alabama — There was a new chief in town … at least for the day.

The Bay Minette Police Department had a special guest on Monday, June 7, as they were joined by Christian Stevens who had the opportunity to be Honorary Chief of Police for the Day.

Stevens participated in numerous law enforcement and first-responder’s duties. He was able to ride along with patrol officers, K-9, drone operations, communications, fire service, municipal court and ended the day by attending the work session of the Bay Minette City Council.

Police Chief Al Tolbert said the department was honored to have Stevens work with them for the day. “We believe it’s important to invest in our youth, to build those relationships and provide mentoring to shed a positive light on law enforcement,” he said.

For his part, Stevens said he wanted to be either a police officer or a firefighter one day. His mom Samantha shared that he said “this is probably the best day of my life!”

The “Police Chief for a Day” package was part of a fundraiser to benefit North Baldwin Infirmary Foundation’s efforts to bring 3D Mammography to the hospital.
