BAY MINETTE, Alabama — In September 2020, the North Baldwin Community Foundation, an affiliate of The Community Foundation of South Alabama, was founded to serve as a vehicle to receive donations and bequests to benefit Bay Minette and surrounding communities.

The fund was created to give the local leaders an opportunity to make a difference in their hometown. With access to the Foundation’s financial and administrative services, these funds have the potential to make a long-lasting impact on a town’s local economy, health, and wellbeing.

The advisory committee of the North Baldwin Community Foundation is pleased to announce that it has opened its first competitive grant cycle for local nonprofits that are addressing the needs of the North Baldwin community and striving to improve the quality of life of its residents. Nonprofits who submit a request will be reviewed carefully by the committee, and grants will be awarded in June 2021.

As an affiliate, the North Baldwin Community Foundation is in partnership with the Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization that serves the eight southwest counties in Alabama: Baldwin, Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia, Mobile, Monroe and Washington.

“By creating affiliate funds, The Community Foundation of South Alabama can give support to communities like Bay Minette and give each town its own legacy,” said Community Foundation of South Alabama President & CEO Rebecca Byrne.

Nonprofits interested in applying should visit the Foundation’s website at www.northbaldwincommunityfoundation.org. The deadline for submission is May 17 by 11:59 p.m.

About the North Baldwin Community Foundation

With the creation of the North Baldwin Community Foundation, an affiliate of The Community Foundation of South Alabama, local community leaders have found the perfect way to make a lasting impact on the citizens of Atmore. The North Baldwin Community Endowment Fund serves as a vehicle to receive donations and bequests to benefit the community in perpetuity.

By working with The Community Foundation of South Alabama, members can focus on raising the funds and deciding charitable use for the income of their fund while relying on the Foundation to handle the administration, investment and required daily tasks. Through a concerted grant-making effort, the effects of The North Baldwin Community Endowment Fund can be felt for generations to come. An advisory committee of local residents makes recommendations about how the charitable dollars are spent, and the Foundation bears the legal responsibility to ensure that the funds are then used in compliance with donor intent.
