ROTC air rifle team finishes third in competition

ROBERTSDALE — The Robertsdale High School NJROTC air rifle team finished third out of 23 teams at the American Legion, Department of Alabama Commander’s Cup held Saturday, March 6 in Anniston.

Sponsored by American Legion Post #44 of Gulf Shores, the team finished with a score of 1,987 out of a possible 2,400 points. Post 73 Enterprise won the competion with a score of 2,088, followed by Post 49 Hazel Green with 2,020 points. Post 133 Millbrook was fourth, followed by Post 73 Daleville in fifth.

Cadets from Robertsdale and Elberta high schools represented the RHS NJROTC in the competition. Of the 92 shooters who participated, Cadet Dianna Burke (Elberta) finished seventh, Cadet Aidan Johnston (Robertsdale) finished ninth, Cadet Vivian Wilson (Elberta) finished 29th, and Cadet Joshua Kaiser (Elberta) finished 30th. Other cadets participating included Aaron Sailors (Elberta), Victor King (Elberta), Gary Morin (Robertsdale) and Jikayla Benjamin (Robertsdale).

“Robertsdale HS NJROTC would like to thank American Legion Post #44 in Gulf Shores and its Commander, Gary Guymon, for its continued support of both our program and our marksmanship team,” said Commander Frank Starr, senior instructor with the NJROTC program at Robertsdale High.
