BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Gretsch & The Modern Eldorados will host a community concert at Coastal Alabama Community College in Bay Minette Saturday, Aug. 7 to raise funds for the victims and families of the tragic accident June 19 on I-65.

Nine children and one adult were killed in an accident involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 65 in Butler County and it has laid heavy on Gretsch Lyles and the band’s heart ever since. The band plans to play a show in Lyles’ hometown at the L.D. Owen Performing Arts Center on Coastal Alabama Community College’s campus beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7.

“It’s not about the band or the music, it’s about those children and families affected by such a tragic event,” Lyles said. “I hope that all of our supporters will come from far and wide to support a cause that means so much to us.”

The show is open to the public – tickets are available now online and at the door on the day of the show. Tickets cost $20 for adults, $10 for ages 6-10, and children 5 and under get in free. All proceeds from the show will benefit those affected by this tragedy.

The North Baldwin Chamber would like to thank title sponsor Coastal Alabama Community College for making this event possible.

About the band

The Modern Eldorados were formed in 1996 as a vehicle for singer/songwriter Gretsch Lyles and songwriting partner, Chris Reid's original brand of classic country music. Raised in a family of musicians, Lyles was heavily influenced by his grandparent's generation of country greats. Growing up in rural Baldwin County, he began singing and playing guitar by the age of 6 and wrote his first song at 16. From a very early age he felt the calling to follow in the footsteps of his heroes Marty Robbins, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. In both sound and style, Lyles is the embodiment of his musical influences. The Modern Eldorados live show is more than just a concert. It is a musical experience dripping with history and full of excitement. With all the conviction of an old-time gospel preacher, Lyles delivers his unique brand of witty southern humor. When the Modern Eldorados take the stage, class is in session for a wildly entertaining lesson in authentic American honkytonk. For more, visit themoderneldorados.com.
