A day at the beach and dealing with traffic can work up an appetite, whether you're part of the crowd or living locally.

If you are in the market for something new to add to your "must eat" list, we have put together a list highlighting five new eateries to enjoy in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Their locations make them ideal to enjoy before or after a day in the sun.

Bird Dog Chicken Co.

Orange Beach has a new chicken spot. If you have a craving for wings, tenders or chicken biscuits, stop by and try Bird Dog Chicken Co. While they only opened at the end of June, they have already raked up rave reviews including from social media influencer Eiffel the Great. Bird Dog's menu offers breakfast biscuits, grilled and fried tenders, wings, sandwiches, salads, delicious dipping sauces and top-notch shoestring fries.

Burro Azul

Open since April under the Hangout Hospitality Group, Burro Azul offers water views and is easily walkable from the beach. Located across the street from the West Gulf Place public parking lot and Gulf Place Beach, Burro Azul is the spot to go for that after-beach taco and margarita. The menu offers everything your heart may desire from a Mexican inspired restaurant with a nod to the coastal seafood we love. Snapper, tuna, mahi and shrimp have a prominent place across the menu, which includes seafood enchiladas, a shrimp burrito and seared tuna tacos just to name a few. The cocktail menu is long and varied, but it is the pink lemonade that has my attention; Teremana tequila, fresh raspberry puree, agave nectar and fresh squeezed lemon juice.

CoastAL Orange Beach

The wait is over. CoastAL Orange Beach is complete and open. The bar portion opened in December 2022, but the main restaurant officially opened in June. The beach front complex offers grassy lawn, picture-perfect views, great food and primo cocktails. The menu shines a spotlight on fresh and seasonal ingredients and has something for everyone from seafood lovers to vegetarians. They also have a fun take on the Gulf Coast's classic bushwacker on the dessert menu you should check out.

Hammered Crab

When visitors come to enjoy the sugar white sands and beautiful Gulf waters, they tend to crave a seafood dinner. While snow crab may not be local to the Gulf, there is a new spot in town those who feel the craving will enjoy. Hammered Crab opened in May and offers all-you-can-eat snow crab legs along with Gulf Coast favorites like peel-and-eat shrimp, gumbo, and shrimp and grits. Every good menu takes those land lovers into consideration, and Hammered Crab is no exception. Meat lovers have options like herb-crusted prime rib, baby back ribs and a French dip sandwich just to name a few. If you have a crowd to feed, head straight to the family meal section of the menu and order up a meal that will feed two to 10.

Taco Fiesta

With locations in Foley and Robertsdale, Taco Fiesta isn't a new brand to Baldwin County, but they do have a new southernmost location. Taco Fiesta Gulf Shores has been in the works for a while, but the spot officially opened June 14. The menu at all three is simple and to the point, but the food is full on flavor. Diners can choose between asada, al pastor, pollo, barbacoa and chorizo in everything from tacos to tortas. The new location is also close to the beach, making it a great spot to stop after a long day of sun and sand.
