MOBILE POST — A Brewton man was killed and another man injured in a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning on U.S. 31, one mile north of Loxley.

According to a release issued Tuesday by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Richard Adam White, 38, of Brewton was killed when the 2006 Hyundai Tiburon in which he was a passenger, left the roadway and overturned. The crash occurred at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday morning at the 12.20 mile marker of U.S. 31, one mile north of Loxley.

White, who was not using a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report. The driver of the vehicle, Dillon James Boardman, 21, of Madison, was transported to USA Medical Center in Mobile for treatment of his injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, but preliminary indications are that alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to the report. Alabama State Troopers are conducting an ongoing investigation.
