If you're a licensed child care provider, an opportunity to apply for a state grant is ending soon.

The Alabama Department of Human Resources announced the reopening of the application process for the final phase of child care bonuses. The window for submitting grant applications will remain open until Aug. 30.
Licensed providers of child care can seek these grants, which offer quarterly bonuses of $3,000 for full-time staff and $1,500 for part-time personnel.

These Child Care Workforce Stabilization grants are now in their eighth quarter and are designed to aid child care providers in the recruitment and retention of employees as the industry strives to recover from the impact of the pandemic.

According to Nancy Buckner, commissioner of ADHR, the response with the final round of grants caused the application deadline to move to Aug. 30.

“These grants have been a wonderful tool to help child care providers maintain a quality workforce to provide much needed child care for Alabama’s children,” Buckner said in a news release.

To be eligible, providers must hold a valid license and be in good standing with DHR both during application and throughout the grant duration. They are also required to remain in operation for a minimum of one year following the grant award.
