BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A Bay Minette man is facing first degree assault and discharge of a firearm charges in the shooting of two residents Wednesday night in a Bay Minette neighborhood.
According to a release issued by Capt. James Eissler with the Bay Minette Police Department, Freddie Demetrius James, 33, of Elaine Avenue in Bay Minette, was arrested at approximately 1 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5. He was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Center at approximately 5 a.m. Thursday on charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and first degree assault, along with probation violation charges. He is currently in jail without bond.
In an earlier release, Eissler stated that officers responded to a call of shots fired at approximately 7:48 p.m. Wednesday on Magnolia Street.
Officers responded a short time later to McGee Circle and found one gunshot victim. Shortly after, another gunshot victim on Lower Street. Both victims were transported USA Medical Center where they were treated and released Thursday morning.
The investigation into the shooting is on-going. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance in the case.
