BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A Bay Minette man is behind bars, arrested in connection with the theft of gold and silver coins and bars, along with several firearms from a Perdido residence.

Deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Services Division responded Friday, Oct. 20 to a report of approximately $21,000 in coins and bars, along with several firearms, missing from a residence in Perdido.

On Tuesday, according to a release issued Wednesday by BCSO investigator Cpl. Shane Robinson, a follow-up investigation by the BCSO’s Office Criminal Investigations Division developed a suspect, 18-year-old Devin Lee Miller of Bay Minette.

Miller was located and contacted on a traffic stop and was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant. He was interviewed and confessed to being responsible for stealing the gold and silver from the residence. At the time of his arrest Miller was found to have six, 1-ounce gold bars in his pocket, according to the release.

As a result of this investigation, the gold bars and coins, along with two firearms, were recovered and will be returned to the victim. Miller has been charged with third degree burglary and is currently being held in the Baldwin County Corrections Center without bond.
