"Charlie" Charles Edward Davis, Sr., age 86 passed away peacefully on Wed., Jan. 24, 2024. In 1958 Charlie met the love of his life, Miriam Evelyn Lane, while stationed in Massachusetts with the United States Air Force. His commitment to our country spanned a decade, and he was honorably discharged in 1959. A man of many roles, Charlie devoted 13 years to owning and operating a Union 76 station, concurrently serving as a skilled auto mechanic, and raising his three young children. He and his wife, Mimi, built their dream home on a farm where he spent his retirement in livestock farming. Charlie's impact went beyond his professional and personal pursuits; he was a pillar of love and support within his family. To describe him as merely loved would be an understatement. Known for his unwavering dependability, encouraging nature, and selflessness, Charlie took immense pride in his family. His joy was found in tending to his farm and cherishing moments with his grandchildren. Beyond his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather, Charlie was a respected veteran who exemplified a life dedicated to helping others. His selfless spirit touched the lives of those around him, leaving an indelible mark on his community. He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge in Foley. Charlie is survived by his cherished wife Miriam "Mimi" Davis of Foley; two sons, Charles "Chuck" (Donna) Davis-Foley, John "Bo" (D'att) Davis-Foley; his daughter, Patricia (Tom) Daniel-Foley; bonus son, Jessie Collins-Foley; three sisters Edith (Lester) Powell-Fairhope, Judy Burkett-Fairhope, Diane Devine-Bay Minette; sister-in-law Katherine Davis-Bell Forest; nieces, Irene Comalander, Jeanette Burgin, and Debbie Hall; as well as many other nieces and nephews; grandchildren Chip (Sandy) Davis, Brandon Nelson, Nicole Davis Brown, Brittany (Brent) Wilson, Hannah Daniel; and great-grandchildren Wyatt, Piper, Levyn-Rae, Kimber Grace, Emmitt, Corinne, baby Lathan Davis due in March, Hannah, Pearl, and Scarlett. He is proceeded in death by his parents Wylie "Bud" and Fronie Brown Davis; grandson, Justin Davis; sisters, Claudine Bishop, Lavada Catrett, Catherine "Khaki" Nolte; brothers, Eugene Davis, and Virgil Davis. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, honoring Charlie's compassionate legacy of caring for others. Funeral services were held at the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, AL., Sun., Jan. 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The family received friends Sat., Jan. 27, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at the Foley Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home. Interment followed in Brook-Cedron Cemetery.
