Eastern Shore residents will no longer have to drive to West Mobile or Foley for their Chipotle Mexican Grill fix.

In March, the City of Daphne's planning commission approved a site plan for two national brands on the same plot, Chipotle and Starbucks. The lot, located at the southwest intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and Van Avenue, has seen activity lately.

Gulf Coast Media contacted both Chipotle and Starbucks to confirm the construction and get timeline information, but only Chipotle responded by press time. A representative for Chipotle confirmed the Daphne location.

"We are currently scheduled to open a location in Daphne at some point this winter," said Annie Gradinger, external communications analyst at Chipotle. "It is located at 914 Van Ave. and features the brand's signature Chipotlane, a drive-through pickup lane that allows guests to conveniently pick up digital orders without leaving their cars."

The Daphne location will be the second Chipotle to open in Baldwin County. The first, in Foley, opened Dec. 21. The Foley location also features a Chipotlane.

Gulf Coast Media was unable to confirm the Starbucks location or when it would open, but the lot on Van Avenue has one building under construction and the ground is prepped for a second building to begin construction.
