MOBILE—The Foley Lions (2-1), playing without starting quarterback Chris Armstrong (injured last week in the Lions’ 17-13 win over Fairhope) suffered their first loss of the season Thursday in a 42-6 Class 7A Region 1 decision to Davidson at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Davidson running backs Donte Edwards and Taverez Jones each scored a pair of touchdowns to lead the Warriors who led 28-0 at the half. Davidson QB and South Alabama commit Cephus Johnson added a 24-yard touchdown toss to James Clemons while Marquese Manual took a wide screen from Johnson then threw a 65-yard TD pass to De Morris Coleman down the sideline.

Foley got on the board in the fourth quarter when Tyron Cosby finished a 90-yard drive with a 4-yard TD run. Cosby carried the ball four times on the drive, quarterback David Hendrick completed a pass to Branton Morgan and scrambled for a key first down in the series. The extra point kick attempt was not good.

Davidson improved its record to 1-1 in Class 7A Region 1 play. The Lions fell to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in region play. Foley will host

Alma Bryant High School Sept 9 in another Region 1 match up. The ABHS Hurricanes took a 21- 18 win at Robertsdale Friday night.
