Diana "D'ana" Doyle Snow passed away peacefully at the age of 84, on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, at her home in Fairhope. D'ana was preceded in death by her mother, Elaine Giddens Doyle; her father, Edward Joseph Doyle; her brother, Michael Kenneth Doyle; and her grandson, Mark Matheson "Matt" Snow, Jr.
She is survived by her wife, Martha "Marty" Adams; her children, Mark Matheson Snow (Diane) and Todd Harrison Snow (Sheri); her grandchildren, Kate Thompson (Alex), Amanda Snow Lawson (Chris), Taylor Snow, and Nick Snow; great-grandchildren, Lemon Lawson and Dovey Lawson; and two nieces, Lainie Doyle and Kaitlyn Doyle.
D'ana was born on July 31, 1939. She attended Murphy High School in Mobile and continued her education at the University of Alabama. She liked to say that she enjoyed it so much that she graduated three times, earning her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees. She remained an avid Alabama football fan and always cheered loudly for the Crimson Tide. She maintained a private practice of counseling, serving many people in the Baldwin County and Mobile area for 35 years. She finished her career teaching medical students and resident physicians as a faculty member at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine.
D'ana was an artist, creative and talented. She was a sculptor, specializing in images of children and people she loved. She especially liked creating figures of animals and of her grandchildren. She sold some pieces, but most she gave away. She found great serenity when working with clay.
D'ana was a lifelong Episcopalian and remained active in a church as long as she was able. She loved God, her family, and adventure. She grew up spending her summers in a small cottage in Point Clear, exploring Mobile Bay with her friends in her twelve-foot Stauter Built skiff. She was always looking for opportunities to explore new places. She enjoyed hiking in the woods, camping and walking her dogs on the beach. She had a special affinity for the mountains of north Alabama and north Georgia. But most of all she enjoyed people, and she had many good friendships.
The family would like to recognize and thank those caregivers and hospice personnel who helped make D'ana's last months and days pleasant and comfortable. We will always appreciate your service, your skill and your care.
A service to celebrate and honor D'ana's life will be held on Jan. 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 28788 N. Main Street, Daphne, with burial of ashes immediately following the service in The Garden of the Resurrection. The family will be glad to receive visitors before the service at 10 a.m. in the parish hall.
