Doris Daughtry Newell, age 93, born in Loachapoka, Alabama and a resident of Bay Minette, Alabama, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Oakwood Nursing Home.
She was a retired bookkeeper for Baldwin County Social Services.
She is survived one son, Joe R. (Elisabeth) Newell Jr. of Ellijay, Georgia; one daughter, Renée N. (Arthur) McRoy of Mobile, Alabama; three sisters, Mary Charles Norrell, Greenville, Alabama, Inez Woodruff of Roswell, Georgia and Betty Jean Walton of Opelika, Alabama; two grandsons, Joe R. Newell III and Wesley D. McRoy; and two great-grandchildren, Alexander Grey Newell and Willow Rose Newell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe R. Newell Sr.; and a sister, Barbara Gosser.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jay Cooper officiating.
Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 1 until the 2 p.m. service at the First United Methodist Church.
Although the family will accept flowers, they suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 2029-B Airport Blvd., Box 235, Mobile, AL 36609.
