Elizabeth Slaughter Sawyer, age 89, a native of Tensaw, Alabama and a resident of Fairhope, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016.
She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.
She raised her children on Mobile Bay where she enjoyed entertaining family and many friends. There was always an open door policy, not only at her bay home, but the family lodge in the Tensaw woods.
Mrs. Sawyer was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Sawyer; and a daughter, Elizabeth Sawyer Noble.
She is survived by daughters, Amanda Chatwood Manders (William P.) of Point Clear, Alabama and Egie Sawyer Middleton (Jerry) of Fairhope; son, Asheton “Bubba” Sawyer (Debbie) of Athens, Georgia/Fairhope. She was known as “Sissy” to her eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many other loving relatives and friends.
Graveside services and interment will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Montgomery Hill Baptist Cemetery, Tensaw, Alabama.
The family would like to express their gratitude to caregivers, Kathy Milanos, Linda Barnes, Betty Childress, Debrah Mitchell and Comfort Care Hospice.
