Evelyn Rena Schoetzow, age 80, a resident of Elberta, Alabama passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 23,2023. Rena grew up on Fort Morgan and Plash Island and was a longtime resident of Elberta, Alabama. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 99 where she was awarded “Member of the Year” in 2022, a member of the South Baldwin Trail Riders Club, and worked at Wolf Bay Lodge for a number of years. She was a bus driver for Baldwin County Board of Education for over 25 years.
Rena is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Schoetzow, Jr.; parents, Andrew Julius Ewing and Evelyn Francis Ewing; sister, Myrtle Lucille; and grandson, Dalton Schoetzow.
Rena is survived by daughter, Janice (Junior) Lewis of Elberta; son, Walter “Sonny” (Amy) Schoetzow of Elberta; grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Belt of Dixon, Kentucky, Johnathon (Shelli) Schoetzow of Foley, Jeffery (Mary) Lewis of Foley, Justin Lewis of Elberta; Haden (Rahchel Triezenberg) Schoetzow of Elberta; five great grandchildren; her loving dog, Rick; siblings, Audrey (Buddy) Callaway, Andrew “Buddy” Ewing, Deloris Maxson, Julius (Alyce) Ewing, Ira (Patti) Ewing, Howard Ewing,, Ella Strausser Cabaniss, Francis (Don) Bressher, Louis (Debra) Ewing, Walter Lee (Mary Jane) Ewing, and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Elberta, Alabama, on Monday, August 28th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. The family received visitors one hour prior to the service. Interment followed at St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Ewing, Albert Ewing, Matthew Ewing, Richard Hoffman, Scott Eubanks, and Edward Ewing.
