Just over 40 teams of artists have decorated the downtown trees of Fairhope in colorful coats over the weekend in the latest Eastern Shore Art Center community art project “Art on a Limb,”

Artworks were installed Saturday, Sept. 10 and will be up until Sept. 30. City Council President Jack Burrell and Owner of Mobile Yarn Heidi Sunday judged all 43 trees Saturday afternoon and after a tough deliberation, announced the winners at the Fairhope Welcome Center.

The winners included:

Adult Category:

1st Place: A tie between two trees, both by Team "Friends of the Library". One was sponsored by Friends of the Library and the other sponsored by B&B Pecans

2nd Place: Team “Mystic Mermaids”, sponsored by TCB Banking, Margaret Neely

3rd Place: Team “Coral Bomb”, sponsored by Dr. Katie Penry of A Friendly Affair

Honorable Mention: Team “Fit to be Tied”, sponsored by Dr. Doug Harrell

Youth Category:

1st Place: Team Bayside Academy, sponsored by Russell Thompson Baker and Houston

2nd Place: Team “Art Bash - Jellyfish”, sponsored by ESAC

3rd Place: Team “All in the Family”, sponsored by Jones Design and Construction

A People’s Choice Award will be announced at the Art Center’s closing celebration, September 30 at 4 p.m. People can vote for their favorite tree at its corresponding business. Just check the sign in front of the tree and drop a donation in the business’ ballot box. Ballot box donations go to the Art Center’s community outreach efforts.
